Hi all,

This is the faq or frequently asked questions. The easiest way to use this is pres ctrl+f on your keyboard. On most computers that will bring up the "FIND" box. Then type your keyword and hit enter.

Question: I am looking for a CLEP study guide, not the 2004 edition. I was told that the smaller CLEP book that came out before that is better because it is more detailed. I am taking Human Growth and Development and Educational Psychology Introduction. If you have any additional information in regards to these two tests, please let me know. I really want to find the other CLEP study guide.

Answer: I just got the newest CLEP Book from Amazon. The Educational psychology section has 60 questions. The Human Growth and development has 52 questions. This is a good start but don't plan on passing with just this to study from. You either need a text book on top of that or one of the products advertised on my site. Do buy the Official Book and not the PDF they sell on the college board website. Even though it's the same information, the book is slightly cheaper since you are taking two exams and if you end up taking a third somewhere down the road then great!

I don't have any information on the previous printings.

Queston: When is the next clepexam offered at the College of _________________?

Answer: CLEP Exams are offered all the time. You can usually take the exam when ever you want. First study and get ready. After you are ready you can call your school and schedule an appointment. The tests are done on a computer so you don't need to wait fora professional proctor.

Question: I am going to take the humanties clep is there anything that you could tell me about this test to make it easier for me to get a better grade I noticed that you have something on the forum about it being 140 questions in 90 minutes I am real nevous and, when timed I do not do well. I am an older person trying to get my degree because all sorts of road block came my way.

Answer: The key to overcome nerves and get a good grade is preparation. I would recommend using the course from IStudy Smart (please use the link on my site so I get credit , thanks) Instacert does not have a preparation course for this subject. And the "official" materials from the College Board are not worth the money (see the review on my site.)

The course from istudy smart will have you work through a text book that they have selected for this exact exam. The have a 94% pass ratio. So if you follow their program YOU WILL PASS.
Have a regular study time about 1 hour a day if you work. If you are not working or have lots of extra time you can bump it up accordingly. I typically plan to take a month of study per 3 credits. That would mean 2 months of study for humanities.

On the day of the exam, I suggest taking it around 10AM. You don't want to have to sit through morning rush hour just thinking about the test. Any time later in the day and things might "come up" getting in your way. Have your favorite light breakfast. Don't over eat because you are nervous but DON'T SKIP BREAKFAST either.

When you get there, have your picture ID ready and give your self extra time to get acclimated. Once you start the actual test, there are extensive instructions. Take your time going through them. They don't count against you. Get comfortable with the mouse keyboard and monitor. If anything is bothering you like glare for example, ask the proctor for some help. They are usually quite friendly.
Most important remember if these little kids that don't know anything about anything can do it certainly someone as wise and experienced as you can!

Question: I am interested in the Instacert program, but when I went to order online the site was not secure. I tried to call them, but the recording said to email. I sent an email on Friday, but not response yet. Any suggestions?

Answer: I just double checked and the links from my site. They bring you to instacert's website and then click register. When you click register, they are secure. Maybe you went directly to the site or something, I don't know.

Question: I am interested in the Instacert program, but when I went to order online the site was not secure. I tried to call them, but the recording said to email. I sent an email on Friday, but not response yet.

Answer: I can check with Steve. I bet if you just put the "s" right after "http" and then hit enter, it will be a secure page. I know when I originaly signed up it was secure. I'm sure it's just an over site on their part. I have his cell phone number around somewhere. I'll try to give him a call. Since his product is nearly 100% automated he may be on vacation or something. I'm sure he checks in though.

Question: Hey do you have specific material for General Chemistry (3150:151) or something like that?

Answer: Unfortunately none of the companies I represent offer test preperation tools for the CELP Chemistry test. Your best bet is to buy a couple of books on the subject and buy the PDF file from the Collegeboard. Don't for get to buy the whole book if you are going to take more than one exam. Please let me know what books you decide to buy. I'd like to put them as a recomendation on my website.

Question: First off, I'm pretty much decided on your courses. But just to make sure, assume I have no knowledge of algebra, will your course make me pass the clep? Second, do you also offer Trigonometry? If not, will you get it soon?

Answer: Yes if you have no knowlegde of algebra one of the products on my site would help you pass. This one covers Algebra specifically.

http://www.istudysmart.com/partnerkey.asp?key=48

The cheaper product is geared towards a different exam "College Mathmatics" not specifically Algebra. This is propably an easier exam then the Algebra one. For example only 15% of the exam is Algebra. The rest of it seems like easier topics:

10% Sets
10% Logic
20% Real Number System
20% Functions and Their Graphs
25% Probability and Statistic
15% Additional Algebra Topics

The College mathmatics exam is worth 6 credits instead of 3 for Algebra. I would use the cheaper product to pass this test first. You will get your feet wet with Algebra. Then after you pass this one, you could get started on the other. It has a guarentee for 30 days. So hit the books hard (as they say) for 15 days then decide if you are making the progress you think you should.

Question: I'm needing to take college algebra but I must first take two developmental algebra courses in order to build my knowledge to that level. I'm wondering if I can bypass these two courses and be brought up to speed and pass the clep with your college algebra course?

Answer: I guess what your saying is your college requires you to take to pre-algebra courses. Or maybe you just feel the need for some extra help first. I'm not exactly sure what your asking. Anyway if you use the practice test software, you will be able to pass the CLEP test. If you pass the test your school should accept that test in place of some or all of the math requirement of your degree depending on your degree. Using the practice test software is an excelent way to prepare for the test. If you have highschool level math you will be able to jump right in.

Question: it's necessary take Spanish Clep Test (12 credits) because in my certifificate of Albany (Education Department) it's written.

Answer: It sounds like you need to take the CLEP spanish test. It should be easy for you! Non of my tools will help you though. You probably can go to Amazon.com and find something that will help.

Question: Would you like send me information from Spanish Test Clep? I took the Bachellor's and Master Degree in Education.

Answer: I'm not sure why you want to take any CLEP tests if you already have a Master's Degree. If you need some additional credits to transfer your degree to the United States the Spanish test may be great for you. Most Universities offer 3-12 credits for this test depending on your grade. If you are a native Spanish speaker the test should be easy. Just remember there is more than one type of Spanish. Most US tests are based on Spanish from Spain. Still it could be some easy credits for you if you need them. Question:

Question:  Do you offer CLEP Natural Sciences?

Answer: Check this out.

http://www.istudysmart.com/partnerkey.asp?key=48

As soon as you register, you will be able to ssee the courses that are offered. Registration is free. And they do offer Natural Sciences prep.

Question: I need the developmental courses to work my way up to college level algebra. If I can however pass the clep, I would have satisfied that requirement for college algebra. My knowledge of algebra is probably scant. I have done a self study at home but cannot at the current time pass College Algebra (as opposed to basic Algebra and Intermediate Algebra).

Answer: I am fairly confident that if you have been studying at all you won't have any problem. You still need to use the practice test. It comes with questions, answers, and EXPLANATIONS. It will help grow your knowledge from where it is today to where it needs to be. There is a 30 day moneyback guarantee so try it for an hour a day for 15 days. I bet you will see the value. After you are able to pass the practice tests (without looking at the answers), you will be ready to sit for the real thing.

Question: I wanted to know that some one living in country other than USA may attemp CLEP tests or no ? As I am living & working in Italy. What I need to do for taking a CLEP Exam ? If its possible then will it cost me more than normal testing cost ?

Answer: As far as I know tests are only given in the USA. So to take the test you would need to come here. The plane ticket would make the test too expensive. If however you come to study in the USA then you are allowed to take CLEP tests just like a USA citizen.

Question: I am a teacher of NYC Board of education. I need to do 30 credits above my Master degree.

Answer: If you already have a bachelors degree CLEP is not going to be very useful. It won't help you at all to get your Master's degree. If on the other hand you need to fill in some gaps in say an engineering degree in order to get and education degree, CLEP could be useful for that.

Question: I need the tele.# I took some nursing courses. I'm interested in continuing. Want to know which courses I have already paased

Answer: I don't know which courses you took sorry. Try the DANTES or the Collegeboard. There is no phone number available for my website.

Question: Now tell me, are you part of the instantcert.com? And seriously, how closely do their tests represent a true CLEP exam?

Answer: Your question is insightful. I am completely honest on my site. I am a student using instacerts product. Recently they started an affiliate program where I can make a few bucks selling their product. You also notice I sell one from Istudysmart.com (a competitor) also. The grade I posted (all A's) were achieved using instacert and a book usually. I took the computer exam without a book but that's not really a fair test becuase I fix computers for a living. They say their practice test is all you need but I haven't realy given that a good try yet.

I would say that the instacert practice tests will prepare you to pass the test 100% of the time. They may not give you everything you need to get an A everytime though. There are four products on the internet for CLEP preparation and instacert is the one I use.

BTW if you look at the whois record for this site you will see it is owned by Historic Future, Inc. (my corp) not instacert.

Question: I need the clep study guide for microeconomics. Can you help?

Answer: You came to the right place! The product on my website has a great practice test for microeconomics. It contains 229 questions answers and explanations. If you go through these questions until you understand the answers (and get them right) you are very likely to pass the test. There is a 30 day money back guarantee so I'm sure you will be satisfied.
